Using performance, video and sculptural installations, my work focuses on the relationships between identities, iconography and the social complexities that have shaped American culture.
My creative process includes collaborations with educators and artists to enrich the acts of making by deepening the insight and meaning of the collective work. I consider what it means to position myself as an artist and citizen in creating visual forms prompting critical conversations surrounding this thematic structure.
In addition to my practice, I work with the creative learning and research space collective Compound Yellow developing programming under the theme of the Self-Reliance School. Since 2007 I have worked in the exhibits department at Chicago Children’s Museum supporting alternative forms of education through play.
