Chicago Artists Coalition (CAC) and Terrain Exhibitions (Terrain) are pleased to announce the inaugural Terrain-HATCH Public Art Residency, which gives graduates of CAC’s HATCH Projects an opportunity to curate four exhibitions at Terrain. The exhibitions will run for five weeks each and will take place from February – July 2017.
“CAC is excited to partner with Terrain Exhibitions on this program,” said Caroline Older, CAC’s Executive Director. “The Public Art Residency provides HATCH Projects alumni a valuable opportunity to exercise and build upon the curatorial skills developed while a CAC resident.”
Terrain Exhibitions founder, Sabina Ott says the Public Art Residency allows emerging Chicago curators to find site-specific work that challenges the space between public and private, decoration and function, figure and ground. “I am grateful to CAC for sharing my vision for a public art residency that supports emerging and established artists and celebrates curatorial vision.”
The mission of the Chicago Artists Coalition is to build a sustainable marketplace for entrepreneurial artists and creatives. HATCH Projects is a yearlong, juried incubator for contemporary Chicago artists and curators that strives to support an ecology of curatorial and artistic practice. HATCH fosters shared experimentation, exchange, and creativity to produce ground-breaking exhibitions and programs.
