Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Woodshop Instructor to lead woodworking classes for adult learners. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of woodshop tools and their proper use, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and the ability to design engaging, skill-building projects that foster both technique and creativity.
Responsibilities:
- Teach woodworking fundamentals and advanced techniques in a hands-on studio environment
- Develop and implement project-based lesson plans and class sequences for 4-week and 8-week courses, as well as 1-day workshops
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom and shop environment
- Instruct students on the proper use, care, and maintenance of woodshop tools and machinery
- Demonstrate best practices in tool safety and material handling
- Support students in the development of their individual woodworking projects
- Collaborate with staff on curriculum planning, scheduling, and shop management as needed
Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of woodworking tools, techniques, and materials
- Demonstrated experience creating and teaching project-based woodworking curricula
- Comprehensive understanding of shop safety standards and practices
- Teaching experience required (adult or youth education preferred)
- Degree in Sculpture, Architecture, Designed Objects, or extensive related professional experience required
- Availability for evening and/or weekend classes and/or workshops
