Visual Art Teacher

Description

South Shore Arts is searching for a K-8th grade visual arts educator to assume instructional duties at a school-based program in an East Chicago, Indiana charter school under fantastically sincere administrative leadership. The student population at the school is enthusiastic and the parents are incredibly supportive.

The ideal applicant for this position is an energetic visual art educator committed to working with young people to create exciting art experiences in a classroom setting. This is an opportunity that offers the instructor a great deal of creative freedom with regards to curriculum. Applicants should have experience with classroom management and grading student work. Applicants should also be comfortable with monitoring supply inventory, placing supply requests and tracking supply budget expenditures.

Please note that there is no dedicated art classroom. All instruction takes place in the primary classroom space for each grade. The school provides on-site art storage. In addition to instructional duties, the instructor is expected to organize an annual exhibition of student work.

Start Date: August 12, 2019
Duration: 2019-20 Academic Year
Hours: 18 total instructional hours per week

Requirements

  • Teaching license/certificate or equivalent or substantial classroom teaching experience
  • Experience aligning curriculum with state standards
