Visitor Services Associate
Wrightwood 659 seeks enthusiastic individuals for gallery staff positions during the upcoming exhibition, About Face: Stonewall, Revolt, and New Queer Art. Wrightwood 659 hails the Stonewall Rebellion – which spurred the modern-day movement for LGBTQ equality – with a major exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of that historic event. The exhibition comprises historical and contemporary works by international artists that, viewed together, provide a nuanced picture of the evolving meaning of queerness.
The exhibition will be open to the public Wednesday – Saturday from May 22 – July 20, 2019.
Commitment
During the exhibition, Visitor Service Associates are expected to schedule their days to coincide with operating hours. Ideally, part-time VSAs will be available to work 2-3 days per week (12-30 hours). Applicants should be available the week before opening for gallery training sessions and protocol briefings.
Desired Attributes
Successful candidates will possess a passion for art, architecture, and social movements. They must be comfortable in a progressive environment and enthusiastic about working with widespread audiences. VSAs are expected to be intuitive, reliable, intellectually curious, and inclusive team members capable of maintaining a peaceful gallery atmosphere.
