Studio5 is an intimate, 128-seat performing arts venue bringing dance, music, theater, and film to Chicago’s North Shore. Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Theater Manager to help coordinate day-to-day theater operations while also setting up systems for us to grow into the future. The successful candidate will undertake an onboarding period of 1 month, during which they will work with existing staff members to learn and help run Studio5 events. The Theater Manager will work closely with the Studio5 Artistic Directors to develop a workflow that supports the theater’s regular event schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Administration & Customer Support: email maintenance, ticketing support, processing regular reports
• Front of House Staff Management: scheduling & supervising staff
• Assist with Bar Management Tasks: inventory maintenance, supply orders
• Event Oversight: coordinate setup & tear down, handle cash, reconcile sales, act as onsite customer support
• Booking. In the past the Theater Manager has handled theater rental agreements from contracting through scheduling, staffing, and execution. Rentals are currently on hold but may be added as a responsibility depending on workload capacity.

Position Type: Part-time, hourly

Position Location: Hybrid. All shows are onsite.

Hours: 10-15 hours per week during the Fall and Winter/Spring seasons. Summer hours may be shorter depending on programming.

Schedule: Most shows are on Fridays, with some Saturday and Sunday bookings. Non-show administrative and onsite tasks can be scheduled around Theater Manager and Artistic Director availability. Current season: 9/27, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/01, 11/08, 11/22, 12/06

Pay: Commensurate with experience. Starting at $25/hr.

Reports to: Artistic Directors

Qualifications:

• At least two years of experience working within arts organizations, especially in a live performance context.
• Experience managing and leading others, particularly in the context of small and collaborative teams.
• Attention to detail and strong multitasking skills
• Proficiency in Apple iWork Suite and Google Workspace
• Familiarity with Square POS system and cash handling
• Familiarity with email marketing platforms and ticketing software. Ticket Tailor experience is a plus, but not required
• Access to a car is preferred, but not required
• Must currently hold Illinois BASSET Certification, or be willing to acquire certification during the onboarding process
