Textiles Teaching Assistant
The Textiles Department at Lillstreet Art Center is seeking a Teaching Assistant to instruct adult classes in one or more of the following classes: sewing, knitting, weaving, crochet, dye and/or screen printing on fabric. Responsibilities and desired qualifications are listed below.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to arrive punctually before the start of each class meeting to assist with class set up.
- Ability to independently assist students according to Instructors instructions
- Ability to accept direction and feedback of the Instructor
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with one or more of the textiles mediums above
- Availability to work weeknights and/or weekend mornings and/or afternoons
- 2+ years of teaching and/or assisting experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in customer service
- Undergraduate degree and/or graduate degree in art or related field (preferred, not required)
Compensation
This is a contract position paid at $20/hr.
Schedule
Classes at Lillstreet Art Center run for either five or ten weeks, meeting once a week for three hours. Teaching Assistants are required to come 15 minutes in advance of every class meeting (paid). Exact schedule will be determined with the department director post hiring.
