Technical Production Designer

You appreciate the creative process but your attention lies in the details.

You love to detail out the pieces and parts.

You love a perfectly organized working drawing.

You care about if a drawing is dimensioned to 1/16” or ¼”, consistently.

Your files are so organized, it’s a way of life for you.

You want to fully understand a design so you can provide elevations, sections, plan views and renderings that show it in the most actual form possible.

You can navigate between design programs with ease.

You appreciate feedback and do not mind revisions.


POSITION OVERVIEW

This design position is an on-site, part time in the design department. The goal is to move it to a full time position.

This position requires a team player in our design department that loves making production ready files from designs. You should possess the ability to read design files as well and have knowledge of how to make shop drawings, production templates, installation templates, etc. You have knowledge of assembling materials to execute needed production files for a wide variety of projects that could include art installations, experiential spaces, set design, pop-up spaces, murals, window displays, and environmental design. This position is for those that are looking to flex their production file capabilities in a creative environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Produces production drawings, shop drawings, templates of our designs

- Maintains strong skill levels in software programs required to perform all design functions

- Input site surveys into plans and elevations

- Develop precise shop drawings, print ready files, installation templates, and production cut sheets

- Able to use 3D & rendering software to help visualize & render designs

- Material sourcing per direction of Design Manager and color matching for translating into physical design scape

- Time management to help the team stay on target for hours

- Fluent in AllKinds design process

- Take direction from your manager to execute design deliverables get to the finish line together

- Follow digital file management and organizational methodology, following the department guidelines

- Assist with other special projects, as needed and assigned

- While this position is not doing design work from the ground up, this position can, at times, be included in creative work as needed and as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

- 1-2 years of experience in related design industry (architecture, industrial, environmental, experiential, graphic, packaging)

- BA or equivalent in design focused major

- Working knowledge of constructing, product design, and making dimensional art

- Proficiency in: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Rhino, Autocad, Sketchup (Lumion, and other 3D rendering software a plus)

- Ability to visualize in 2D + 3D

- Able to produce files for a wide range of projects including but not limited to wall art, hanging installations, experiential spaces, pop-up shops, set design, and murals

- Organized, detail-focused, and excellent time management skills

- Calm under pressure and able to juggle multiple projects

- Strong people skills and communication

- Creative problem solver

- Able to take feedback & critiques and implement the changes into your work


ENVIRONMENT

This is an on-site job in a working studio where fabrication of large-scale artworks happen. You must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and open working studio environment. You will be around people who are building and making things. It's awesome –and noisy, dusty, and smelly at times… but it’s the sounds, feeling, and smell of creativity hard at work!.

COMPENSATION & HOURS

Compensation starting at $20/hour, pending experience. Our studio hours are 8am - 4:30pm M-F

AllKinds is a multi-disciplinary design and fabrication studio that uses all kinds of materials to create custom art installations. With commissions from corporations, organizations, art consultants, branding agencies and architecture firms, we tailor-make each artwork to fit large-scale spaces for brands, interiors, events, and movements.
