Summer Administrative Apprenticeship | The Viola Project

The Administrative Apprenticeship Program is geared towards emerging Arts Educators. The apprentice will help coordinate all 8 summer camps – from pre-camp prep work to post-program wrap up. You’ll work hard, meet amazing young women, observe programs, and spend time around a lot of Shakespeare. TIME COMMITMENT The summer begins with a mandatory training meeting on June 1st in Edgewater. After this, Apprentices will work between 16-20 days between June 24 – August 15. Some days will be assigned, but most can be scheduled around other commitments. LOCATION Camps are held in one of three locations: - City Lit Theater in Edgewater - 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Ave, Chicago, IL 60660 - Austin Gardens Park - 167 Forest Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60305 - Hyde Park (address TBA) Office work is primarily located at 314 W Superior Street. Both the office and camp locations are easily accessible via the CTA. Administrative work will be done around all locations RESPONSIBILITIES • Maintaining the Viola Project database with camper information, session materials, and teaching artist feedback • Creating materials for camp sessions such as attendance sheets, schedules of the week’s events, and other handouts for the teaching artists • Assisting in kick off of each session by playing warm-up games, taking attendance, and troubleshooting last-minute needs • Continuing to develop the Teaching Artist Resource database • Generally supporting the Program Director and Teaching Artist Team as needed • Familiarity with AirTable and Dropbox is a plus, but not required EXPECTATIONS • The Apprentice is expected to be punctual, flexible, follow directions, meet deadlines, and be a role model for our students. • The Apprentice is expected to use their own laptop. • Apprentices can expect a supportive environment, amazing students and teachers, and lots of Shakespeare.
