Summer Admin/Event Intern

Woodard Cultural Alliance is currently seeking an intern to support our Leadership Committee in all things programming from June to September. Our intern will gain real-life experience working with both artists, administrators, and the city of Chicago.

The Woodard Cultural Alliance was formed in July 2018 to revitalize the disused Woodard Plaza. With a team of community partners and volunteers lead by artists, the WCA is focused on making the plaza a clean and friendly place for events within the community.

Overview:

Interested candidates may be students. The WCA is happy to work with college internship programs to verify hours. Interested candidates should have a demonstrated interest in the arts and live within easy access to a Blue Line Station. We are looking for a candidate who would be enthusiastic about supporting arts programming! The internship will be approximately 6-10 hours per week for 15 weeks beginning in early July.

Responsibilities:

Internship responsibilities will be primarily focused on event prep and may include some light fundraising assistance.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Graphic design support for website postings, and event posters.
  • Administrative tasks in support of event promotion.
  • Assisting and providing direction to visitors during events.
  • Conducting set up and take down tasks for events.
  • Assistance planning a TBD fundraiser.

Location:

Internship activities will take place at or nearby Woodard Plaza.

Internship benefits:

End of internship stipend.

The WCA intern will benefit from this opportunity by acquiring real-life experience working to help actualize all aspects of event production.

The WCA intern will enjoy access to committee member lead spaces for the duration of their internship.(ie use of The Corner Project’s office space, use of basic studios wood shop, etc)
