Registrar, Archives, and Photography Assistant
Education and Experience: A degree in Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field is preferred. Previous experience in a registrar or photography role is highly desirable.
Registrar and Archives related:
- Assist with registration of incoming items, especially high-volume accounts (i.e., data entry).
- Assistance with managing inventory
- Assist with preparing items for examination and responsible for tracking said items
- Assist with handling art from the warehouse to other departments and from other departments to the warehouse (physically moving art throughout the facility)
- General art handling assistance prepping items for vendor exams or for delivery to vendors for treatment
- Assistance with creating inventory sheets with client intake information to facilitate the exam process (this requires some familiarity with excel spreadsheets and compiling client information from several sources)
- Assist moving art around the facility and prepping art for various vendor tasks
- Assist with creating exam sheets that inform conservators of client requests for recently inventoried items
Photography related:
- Conduct intake registration and photography for large loss claims (most important).
- Perform quality control and photography after treatment (training can be provided).
- Organize and upload image assets efficiently and accurately.
- Assist with marketing projects and content creation for social media.
Overall strengths required:
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable with administrative tasks and efficient in data entry.
- Meticulous in organization and handling a high volume of art coming in for services.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software for data management.
- Basic to intermediate photography skills, including familiarity with DSLR cameras and photo editing software.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and communicate effectively.
- Ability to lift and move art pieces safely, sometimes in excess of 40 pounds. Comfortable with physically demanding tasks.
This is a full-time position. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, vacation pay, and a 401 (k) retirement plan.
