Program & Event Assistant - Night Out in the Parks

Chicago Park District envisions parks as vital cultural spaces that encourage all Chicagoans to explore and embrace the arts and their power to enhance individual quality of life, neighborhood development and community dialogue. The Park District works with hundreds of Chicago’s performing artists and organizations to offer music, theater, dance and other genres in parks across the city.

The Night Out in the Parks series presents cultural events such as concerts, theater, and dance performances in neighborhood parks throughout the city, making community parks safe havens and hubs of cultural activity. Program and Event Assistants will provide pre-event, on-site, and post-event support for park staff, patrons, and artists/arts organizations. This position will be required to travel to different parks all around Chicago. This position requires a flexible schedule of 25 hours per week and will be called upon to work a variety of day, evening and weekend shifts. Program and Event Assistants will serve as on-site event hosts and will be responsible for reconfirming event logistics, documenting events as they occur, and sharing Night Out in the Parks’ promotional materials with patrons in the parks.

Key qualifications include reliability, punctuality, self-reliance, independent critical thinking, and strong communication skills.

When onsite, this position will serve as a primary point of contact for audiences and park staff requiring additional event support.

Must be a Chicago resident.
