Nonprofit Arts Intern
Who we are:
Project Onward is a nonprofit art center for adult artists with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses. We serve as a studio for the artists, who are self-guided professional outsider artists. We also have a gallery space for monthly shows that feature our artists. We have over 50 artists who are incredibly diverse in age, race, social class, and economic background. We supply the artists with work space, materials, we sell all of their work for them, and they get 50% of the profits! The other 50% goes back into our program. Our primary goal as an organization is to support the development of these talented individuals as professional artists.
What we need:
We are currently looking for an arts intern to support our staff at the front desk, answering calls, greeting visitors, completing sales, wrapping art, and giving tours of the space. Our staff is very small, so the intern will be able to work one-on-one with our studio manager and executive director, completing a variety of tasks around the studio and gallery. The intern will gain skills in nonprofits management, visitor services, and artist support.
Your responsibilities:
- Answer calls
- Give gallery and studio tours to visitors
- Assist with sales and art packaging
- Keep front desk organized and clean
- Greet visitors
We believe that diversity can only benefit a productive workplace. It is our goal to make sure to create an inclusive environment for all employees.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to the executive assistant, Ali Harwood, for consideration.
