Marketing Director

Department: Marketing and Audience Services

Reports to: Managing Director

Direct Reports: Marketing Manager, Patron Services Manager

Emerald City Theatre is seeking a dynamic leader to drive the vision of Emerald City Theatre’s brand and marketing strategy, and to oversee the execution of marketing and communications around all the organization’s artistic, education, and development initiatives.

OVERVIEW

  • Create and oversee execution of comprehensive marketing, communication, public relation, audience service, front of house, and database management strategies that align with long-term strategic goals, company branding, and artistic vision
  • Analyze patron purchasing behavior including trends, cross-departmental purchases, and retention rates; use findings to create targeted marketing campaigns and deepen patron engagement with artistic and education programs
  • Direct the design, copy, and distribution for all electronic, and print, and public-facing materials and communications
  • Oversee customer experience for all artistic and educational programs

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:

  • Work with senior staff to set box office goals and sales forecasts
  • Oversee the completion of monthly budgetary reconciles
  • Ensure marketing department’s fiscal responsibility through accurate tracking of expenses and revenue
  • Execute timely and accurate reporting to Managing Director on a monthly basis or as requested
  • Communicate areas of budgetary issue and opportunity to upper management with recommendations for action
  • Manage a departmental payroll and projected cash flow

SALES MANAGEMENT:

  • Direct the execution of annual sales initiatives to reach $1.5 million in earned revenue: including but not limited to subscribers, student matinees, group sales, education camps and classes, and in-school programming
  • Oversee the building and administration in ECT’s CRM (or partner ticketing platform) of all performance and education programming, monitor available inventory and employ hold/release strategies whenever necessary to achieve sales goals
  • Lead sales meetings and reporting on recent and upcoming initiatives, sales trends to date, and marketing brainstorm sessions
  • In partnership with Audience Services, be the in-house expert and conduit of customer information, including demographics, purchasing trends and behaviors, and customer needs and wants as it pertains to all areas of company revenue

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2-4 years of professional work and management experience in marketing
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven work environment
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze and systematically compile technical and statistical information to prepare reports and correspondence
  • Demonstrate skill in project management, print and digital marketing, and research and reporting
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Suite, MailChimp, Google AdWords and Analytics, and social media platforms
  • Must be available for occasional nights and weekends in support of special events, fundraisers, or board meetings
  • Possess a high level of professionalism, initiative, and integrity
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness in solving problems
  • Demonstrate creativity, vision, attention to detail, and strong editing skills
  • Hold a strong work ethic, flexibility and willingness to handle new and different tasks
  • Demonstrate strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Commitment to theater, arts education, and Chicago’s children
  • Experience with Patron Manager (Salesforce-based CRM)

Compensation:

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and is competitive with prevailing compensation for similar positions within the non-profit performing arts industry. This position full-time exempt with benefits.
