Marketing and Communications Manager
The Marketing and Communications Manager is dedicated to raising public awareness of the museum and works with the museum’s leadership team and board of directors to build the organization’s marketing strategy.
The Marketing and Communications Manager reports to the President and CEO.
Salary range: $45,000–$50,000
Public Relations
- Create a calendar of public relations activities to execute overall strategy
- Write press releases and media advisories about the museum’s exhibitions, programs, renovation and other institutional projects
- Cultivate relationships with global, national and local arts and culture reporters and pitch relevant stories to the media
- Manage partnerships with community and peer organizations
- Manage institutional rebranding with designers/design firm with support from the board Marketing and Communications Committee
Marketing
- Create a calendar of marketing activities to execute overall strategy
- Conceptualize and execute marketing and outreach efforts
- Oversee the creation of print and digital advertisements and marketing collateral and handle advertisement placements
- Work with contractual or volunteer graphic designers to implement art direction
- Serve as webmaster for www.art.org
- Manage social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube)
- Craft digital newsletters and e-communications
Publications
- Act as the managing editor for The Outsider magazine
- Prepare the editorial calendar in coordination with the editorial board
- Identify and recruit contributors
- Oversee advertising sales to support the magazine
- Coordinate free online access to new and past Intuit publications
General
- Work with the education department to ideate, plan and execute virtual and on-site public programs
- Work with the development department on fundraising communications strategy and implementation
- Work with the exhibitions department to copy edit exhibition materials and catalogs
- Contribute to the strategic plan
- Support the President and CEO with board-level communications
- Serve as the staff liaison to the board Marketing and Communications Committee, including scheduling meetings, taking minutes and staying in close communications with the committee chair
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or journalism
- Proven digital marketing, SEO and social media management experience
- Strong understanding of communications strategy and brand frameworks
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- WordPress familiarity a plus
- Professional demeanor
- Team player
- Art background a plus
