Lighting Designer
Governors State University’s Theatre and Performance Studies program is seeking a Lighting Designer for its upcoming spring dance production of All That Jazz.
General Show Information
• Auditions will occur on September 4th with rehearsals starting on Monday, September 8th, 2025.
• All rehearsals will occur on the Governors State campus in Chicago’s south suburbs.
• Performance dates: March 5 & March 7, 2026, in The Center for Performing Arts.

Lighting Designer Responsibilities
• Design the lighting for TAPS’s production of All That Jazz
• Create and implement a lighting plot with in-house lighting equipment per the design
• Collaboratively work with the production team
• Keep impeccable financial paperwork and receipts
• Coordinate a focusing and cueing schedules with production staff
• Adhere to the production deadlines
• Program the board and troubleshoot during the production
• Work professionally with student crew members
• Prepare and update lighting paperwork
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Duties in collaboration with the Production Manager
• Share documentation for archival records
• Submit production financial records and receipts
Qualifications
• Proven Lighting Design experience
• Local to the Chicagoland area
• Ability to travel to the Governors State campus
• Ability to attend all production meetings, design meetings, load-in, and tech.
• Able to carry out all duties in a timely manner, with a positive attitude
• Ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner
• Good time management and budgetary skills
The salary for this position is $1,100.
