Lead Fabricator

This role is for the makers of the world — someone who loves making things and constantly improving their personal toolkit. You strive to be multifaceted in your offerings (painting, ceramics and woodshop all interest you).You creative problem solve, pulling from experience and communicating with a team.

You enjoy being in the studio and installing on job sites - you touch every part of a project.

You will lead installations on job sites and keep the studio updated on progress.

You will execute the making of art installations from a set of design drawings.

You can see the larger picture to assist in prioritizing project goals to align with our process.

You are an integral part of this team and happily help out teammates as needed, whether it is contributing to a brainstorming session,

researching an adhesive, or building a quick prototype. We are a small and mighty team, and we want you on it!

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a contract-to-hire position. You will start with a 3 month contract which will turn into a full time hourly position, pending a 90 day

review. After the 3 month contract we evaluate the individual by our Core Values and assess if you ‘Get it, Want it, and Have the Capacity

to do it’. The individual also assesses the company in the same manner.

This position requires a team player.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of required experience building & making dimensional art (how to construct things, choosing best structural methods)

Studio Facilities / Woodshop Maintenance a plus.

Strong expertise using:

power tools and hand tools

router + router templates

working in a woodshop (table saw, panel saw, chop saw, band saw, miter saw, etc.)

spray painting, latex and acrylic painting

painting (including murals)

industrial adhesives and resins

laser cutting and other specialty fabrication methods (ceramics, metals, carpentry) are a plus

rapid prototyping and model making a plus

Strong installation experience and able to lead an install team on site

Accountability for leading project builds

Demonstrated leadership

Work with Fabrication Manager on figuring out fabrication processes

Support the Production Department’s goals to be on budget, help troubleshoot when needed.

Participate in department meetings

Excellent people skills and communication

Able to manage multiple projects at one time and help prioritize deliverables

Actively seek to mentor and help train fellow fabricators

Calm under pressure

Resourceful and knowledgeable on various art forms

Desire to continually learn new fabrication techniques and methods

Ensuring all work is up to AllKinds aesthetic and quality standards

Able to identify your own mistakes and seek improvement

Able to stand on a ladder for long periods of time

Able to lift 40 lbs

Must have a valid driver's license and be comfortable driving vans and box trucks (access to a car is preferred, but not required)

ENVIRONMENT

This is an on-site job in our working studio in West Town where fabrication of large-scale artworks happen. You must be able to thrive in a

fast-paced and open working studio environment. You will be physically building and making things. It's awesome (and noisy, dusty, and

smelly at times...) but it’s the sounds, feeling and smell of creativity hard at work.

COMPENSATION AND HOURS

Compensation is commensurate with experience and is paid per hour as a full-time hourly employee. In addition, you’ll be eligible for

medical and dental benefits and earn overtime (1.5x) when applicable. Hours worked are expected to be approximately 40 hours per week

and may vary depending upon the schedule of client projects and potential travel for installations. Our studio hours are 8:30am - 4:30pm

M-F; however, installs can take place outside of our normal business hours.

With commissions from corporations, organizations, art consultants, branding agencies and architecture firms, we tailor-make each artwork
