Kids' Hip Hop Instructor (PT)

Summary: The Old Town School of Folk Music seeks a part-time experienced and enthusiastic hip hop dance instructor for children’s dance programs.

Location: Lincoln Square and Lincoln Park

Schedule: Mostly daytime, but varies

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to various skill levels, ensuring safe and supportive environments for all participants.
• Monitor and assess individual students progress, providing personalized feedback and adjustments to improve technique and performance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Dance or related field preferred
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience across various dance disciplines, catering to beginners through advanced levels
• Proficient in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) based pedagogy and contemporary teaching methodologies
• Strong choreography skills, technical proficiency, and a commitment to ensuring safe movement practices required
• Expertise in hip hop and at least two other dance forms, including but not limited to jazz, breakdance required.
• Previous performance experience is helpful
• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with students and parents
• Flexibility to teach at both our Lincoln Park and Armitage locations
• Availability for daytime classes

Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music (“OTSFM”) is the largest community school of the arts in the U.S. and a non-profit organization committed to celebrating American music and global cultures.
