Intern/Gallery Assistant/Temps for EXPO at Kavi Gupta Gallery

As a gallery intern and temp staff member at Kavi Gupta Gallery your responsibilities will include general gallery upkeep, including stocking materials throughout the gallery, assuring spaces are tidy and well kept, and working to present the gallery in the best possible light to visitors.

You will be responsible for greeting visitors, fielding phone calls, and email inquiries. Ability and motivation to learn about the gallery’s history and artists required. As an intern and staff member, you will have access to internal educational resources on gallery history and artists. This includes videos & publications. A good sense of hospitality and desire to learn is highly valued. The ability to follow direction and remain flexible is also highly valued. Candidates with prior photoshop, hospitality, and/or InDesign experience are preferred.

Additional tasks may include, assisting with updating the gallery website, images requests, logging package arrivals, and updating mailing lists. Additionally cataloging gallery publications; facilitating gallery visitor communications via in-person and online; maintaining records of gallery events and expenses; prepping materials for art fairs and exhibitions; and working with gallery assistants to ensure successful exhibition openings. Further, preparing and shipping materials to collectors, museums, etc.

Interns and temp staff will have the opportunity to speak with gallery staff at all levels of the organization as possible to learn about different roles and responsibilities within the gallery.

This position is paid. Interns and temp staff are asked to be at the gallery 1 - 2 days per week from 10am to 6pm weekdays, or 11am to 5pm weekends. Times may vary depending on the needs of the gallery. Internships usually follow the semester schedule, but can be extended based on performance and request of the intern.
