Glaze Technician
Lillstreet Art Center is seeking a reliable, detail-focused Glaze Technician to support glaze production and studio operations within our Ceramics Department. This role ensures the consistency, safety, and efficiency of our Glaze Lab and supports the broader ceramics team.
Responsibilities
As Glaze Tech, you will be responsible for:
- Making and maintaining 12 Cone 10 glazes of varying usage levels
- Testing glazes for consistency and color accuracy
- Preparing epsom salt solution and lid wax
- Cleaning and maintaining the Glaze Lab
- Taking out Glaze Lab trash
- Refilling material bins (must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs)
- Recalculating glaze formulas as needed
- Checking viscosity and reconstituting glazes in use
- Assisting other Glaze Techs, and the Director of Studio Operations as assigned
- Completing BIG CLEAN tasks during seasonal breaks
Schedule
This position works 10 hours per week, scheduled collaboratively with the Director of Studio Operations.
Compensation
This is a contract position paid at $20 hourly.
