Floor Manager- Goodman Theatre

JOB TITLE: Floor Manager

REPORTS TO: Head of Stage Management

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

DATES: Albert Theatre (September 2024 – July 2025); Owen Theatre (September 2024 - July 2025)

COMPENSATION RATE: $21/hour

LOCATION: 170. N Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Goodman Theatre seeks two Floor Managers to be essential members of the Stage Management team for the 24/25 season in our Albert and Owen Theatres, respectively. The Floor Manager in the Owen Theatre will be on each show beginning with pre-production through closing. The Floor Manager in the Albert Theatre will join the Stage Management team during the final week of rehearsal to become familiar with the show, then work backstage with stage managers and crew during all technical rehearsals, previews, understudy rehearsals, and performances.

This is a seasonal, non-Equity position with a minimum rate of $21.00 per hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Familiarizing yourself with each show during the final week of rehearsals
  • Prepare and update paperwork for each show
  • Facilitate communication between stage managers, actors and crew
  • Ensure that each show runs safely and smoothly

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to prioritize tasks and be very detail oriented, work collaboratively as a team member and maintain a positive attitude
  • College education or equivalent professional stage management experience
  • Model behavior and values consistent with Goodman’s Community Agreements and furthering Goodman’s IDEAA (inclusion, diversity, equity, anti-racism and access) goals.
