COMPENSATION RATE: $25 an hour
LOCATION: 170. N Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Goodman Theatre is seeking a first hand for it’s upcoming musical production of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The first hand will assist the Draper in all phases of costume construction, as assigned, and maintain the level of quality determined by the Draper and Shop Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Construction tasks including but not limited to the following:
- Fabric preparation
- Garment construction
- Fabric cutting
- Alterations, repairs and maintenance
- Preparing garments for quick rigging
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 2 – 3 years professional costume shop experience desirable
- Previous first hand experience required
- Must have strong stitching (hand and machine) skills
- Must be detail oriented and yet able to prioritize tasks
