Fine Arts Technical Coordinator

Highland Community College located in northwest Illinois, is seeking applicants for a full-time (non-faculty) Fine Arts Technical Coordinator. This position is responsible for designing, constructing, and taking down sets for approximately 5 theatrical productions (two mainstage – one fall/one spring, one children’s production – fall, one madrigal dinner – fall, and one summer musical production), 8 music concerts, and 4-5 other fine art department events. In addition, the position designs lighting and sound for theatre productions and designs or oversees the sound and lights for music concerts and other events. This position will assist as needed with the putting up and taking down of gallery shows for visual arts. Additionally, this position will coordinate the usage of the Ferguson Fine Arts Theatre by internal and external groups. This position will also be expected to engage in recruitment activities for the entire theatre program. Ability to effectively mentor and supervise students in technical areas such as: stage craft, scene design, lighting, and sound as needed are required.

Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Two years of previous experience designing and building sets and lights preferred (experience earned during college meets this requirement). Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. This position requires night and weekend availability.
