Engagement Liaison & Storyteller

Position Summary

Ox-Bow School of Art & Artists’ Residency is seeking a creative and thoughtful Engagement Liaison & Storyteller to join the Communications Department and help uplift our purpose/mission by capturing narratives from Ox-Bow’s vast community and its century-plus old history.

At Ox-Bow, the Communications Department is grounded in ethical storytelling. We believe that sharing authentic stories about our organization and the people who contribute to the magic is one of the most powerful tools for engagement and community building.

The Engagement Liaison & Storyteller will develop their work through the guidance of the Communications Director and act as the organization’s lead staff writer and managing editor. This role will craft compelling content across digital and print platforms to expand Ox-Bow’s publication library with stories that inspire impact, celebrate our alumni within the Contemporary arts, and reflect our four pillars: education, community, history/historic preservations, and environment.

The Storyteller will contribute and oversee the production of print publications, ensuring alignment with Ox-Bow’s voice and style guide, be a meticulous copy editor, and manage production timelines. The Engagement Liaison will act as a listening post—building relationships with our alumni and be a bridge to our community to ensure our stories and messages reflect our values and experience of our community.

Working closely with the Communications Director, Executive Director, and Development team, the Engagement Liaison & Storyteller will support institutional marketing efforts by writing and/or editing materials such as press releases, annual fund campaign content, and other communications that align with the organization’s strategic goals.

This is a 30 hour a week position. The Engagement Liaison & Storyteller will work both from their home-office with occasional trips to our main campus in Saugatuck and our public space in Douglas where our communal office space is located.
