ANIMA – Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus
Founded in 1964, Anima is a nonprofit, internationally recognized choral organization, serving youth throughout the Chicagoland area. Anima’s mission is to transform young lives through excellence in music education and choral singing.
The responsibilities of the Development & Marketing Director are two-fold: first, the strategic planning and implementation of activities to meet development goals through individual, business, governmental, foundation and event giving; and second, to meet annual targets for Chorus Registration and Concert attendance by identifying new markets and sustaining current participation through social media, advertising and collateral promotions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
With Artistic Director, staff and board development/marketing committee, define Anima’s brand identity and ensure all development and marketing initiatives reflect the mission, vibrancy and excellence of programming.
- With Board of Directors create culture of giving and guidelines for annual board gifts and solicitations.
- With Artistic Director, create development budget based on fiscal needs not projected to be met by sources of earned income and regularly review progress.
- Develop strategies to meet goals for each category: annual campaign, business and corporate sponsorships targeted major gifts and annual gala in conjunction with Board Development Committee. Provide reports for committee and board meetings.
- Develop materials for annual campaign, including designed and printed brochure, individual, targeted letters and response envelope. Use related materials for Anima website, social media outlets and sponsorship packages.
- Regularly research and identify new prospects, assign board contacts and maintain database of updated entries. Integrate database information with financial software.
- With Board Gala Committee, select chair and develop goal for annual event. Work with sub-committees to identify budget and procurement costs, table and ticket sales, auction format, entertainment and facility and production costs.
DEVELOPMENT & MARKETING MANAGER – Job Description
- Update and add to potential sources for foundation and Government grants. Maintain file of regularly needed supplemental materials and government documents needed, including government status certificates, past and current year budget, audited financial statements, recent recordings and senior staff bios. With AD, develop grant narratives and program budget, and provide Financial/Operations Manager information and data to complete and package grant applications and reports.
- Monitor consistent brand identity throughout all marketing platforms, including name and logo, headline and body font, design features and colors. Update images and style for currency and institutional statement.
- Develop and monitor annual internal and external marketing plan and budget, develop metrics with measurable results and adjust strategy when needed.
- Seek and create student registration opportunities throughout the year and specifically target seasonal chorus and camp registration periods.
- Develop, refresh and maintain all social media platforms, collateral materials and placements for maximum results.
- Research and seek cross marketing potential, low cost and free marketing venues.
- Establish and maintain relationships with press outlets; deliver timely information, event announcements and story pitches.
- Provide input and support for board members and parents to engage in promotional and outreach opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- BA/BS degree in arts management, development and/or marketing, communications or related fields.
- Minimum three years of experience in senior development and marketing position; ability to articulate strategy and motivate staff.
- Expertise required in Microsoft Office, social media and use of design software.
- Excellent written communications. Ability to write grant narratives, promotional copy and headlines and supervise graphic designers.
- Strong interpersonal skills, maturity, good judgment; and be capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals.
- Ability to manage multiple and complex tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Proven track record of generating development funds for a non-profit organization through corporate and individual giving.
