JOB TITLE: Concessions Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Front of House Director

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

UNION STATUS: Non-Union

COMPENSATION RATE: $42,000 annually

LOCATION: 170 N. Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Concessions Coordinator is an integral part of Goodman Theatre’s Front-of-House and Events departments who assists the Front of House Director with day-to-day operations of all bars and house manages select performances. This position oversees lounge bartenders responsible for serving VIP guests in our Patron's Lounge and occasionally bartend/host alongside lounge bartenders. This role also collaborates with various departments (Events, Development, etc.) when bar service is needed for special events and board meetings. The position is salaried, with an employee benefits package.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet regularly with the Front of House Director, vendors, and distributors to stay up to date with new product offerings to bring to the bar or lounge menus.
  • Curate well-researched and thematic bar and food menu offerings.
  • Ensure point of sale is updated to account for all pricing and item adjustments.
  • Assist in training all employees on bar procedures and routine updates to the menu.
  • Serve as a show support supervisor, assistant house manager, or lead house manager during performances as needed.
  • Conduct regular inventory of all lounge and front of house bar products and supplies.
  • Prepare, maintain, and place orders for beverages, food, and supplies as needed in partnership with the Front of House Director.
  • Ensure cleanliness and timely maintenance of the Lounge, Prep Kitchen, and storage areas.
  • Monitor employee feedback regarding concessions operation.
  • Greet, welcome, and ensure all Goodman guests have a superior experience at the theatre.
  • Perform other duties including, but not limited to; bartending, ushering, and event support as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: 

  • 2 years of experience working with high-end clientele in a customer service or live performance venue setting preferred.
  • Must possess outstanding customer service skills including sophisticated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adept with Microsoft applications; knowledge of Toast and Tessitura software is a plus.
  • Must be highly responsible, reliable and able to work independently.
  • Possesses or is willing to obtain Basset Certification, Food Handlers Permit, and CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule consisting of a blend of weekdays, weeknights, and weekends. Holiday availability is a must for this position, for Goodman’s annual production of A Christmas Carol.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to multi-task, specifically during performance shifts.
