Children's Program Coordinator

Children’s Program Coordinator - (PT)

The Old Town School of Folk Music is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Children’s Program Coordinator to assist with the operations of the Children’s Music Program at our Lincoln Square, Lincoln Park, and all branch locations (in Chicago and the suburbs).

Duties

Manage activities and assist with the promotion of branch locations.

  • Oversee set up of space
  • Assist teachers as needed
  • Provide parent support
  • Facilitate re-enrollment
  • Engage with organizations and individuals in branch communities
  • Manage recruitment events
  • Capture video footage for social media

Manage camp counselors and daily camp scheduled events and activities.

  • Train and supervise camp counselors
  • Act as a liaison between counselors and caregivers
  • Keep inventory of camp supplies and maintain a clean camp area
  • Prepare communications

Additional responsibilities including but are not limited to:

  • Inventory and maintenance of department instruments, equipment materials, and supplies.
  • Manage substitute communication process.

Qualifications

  • Some college credit or higher, preferably in education or the arts preferred
  • Prior experience working with children preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Conditions of Employment

Must have transportation and the ability to travel throughout Chicagoland

Schedule

  • 24 hours per week (40 hours during camp season - from June to July)
  • Availability for staff training sessions in June
  • Evening and weekend hours will be required on occasion

Physical Requirements

Perform all physical aspects of the position which include interacting with children at floor level, physical education activities such as running, jumping, etc, lifting equipment as needed (up to approximately 20 lbs.), participating in outdoor activities, and bringing supplies to partner locations.
