Camp Glee Club Instructor (Seasonal)
Summary: The Old Town School of Folk Music is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Vocal Instructor for our Glee Club summer camp program, working with children ages 6-11. This is a temporary summer camp position for instructors who are passionate about group vocal performance, fostering creativity, and preparing students for an exciting end-of-camp showcase.
Location: Lincoln Square, Chicago, IL
Schedule: Varies based on camp schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Lead group vocal rehearsals for children ages 6-11 at varying skill levels.
- Teach a wide variety of musical genres, helping students develop vocal skills and confidence.
- Implement age-appropriate vocal techniques for young singers.
- Create engaging and fun lesson plans to encourage participation and musical growth.
- Inspire and motivate students while fostering an inclusive and creative learning environment.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and program staff.
- Attend weekly staff meetings to coordinate and enhance camp activities.
- Prepare students for their final group performance at the Camp Showcase.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, Vocal Performance, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience working with children (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of vocal technique for young singers and experience working with youth choirs or group singing.
- Ability to teach a diverse range of musical styles, including pop, rock, folk, and musical theater.
- Experience leading group vocal performances and engaging young learners.
- Passion for children’s music education and working with families.
- Strong creativity, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Availability to work afternoon and evening hours.
