Camp Adler Music Teacher

Job description

Session 1: June 9 - 27 Session 2: July 7 - 25 Faculty Orientation: June 7

Monday - Friday 9:30am - 12:05pm / 1:30pm - 4pm

Last Thursday evening of each session for Celebration of the Arts

As Music Faculty, you will design and implement engaging music lessons that are age-appropriate and cater to a variety of musical interests and skill levels. You will collaborate with other faculty members to integrate music with the broader camp curriculum and assist in preparing campers for performances. You will lead four daily classes, each an hour long and designed to encourage campers (Ages 5-11) and junior counselors (ages 12- 14) to explore their musical talents while building teamwork and self-expression.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Teach music classes each period daily. 4 periods each day, each an hour long.
  • Music classes have included choir, musical theater, boom whackers, ukulele, recorder, additional classes based on knowledge/experience created by teacher.
  • Develop class curriculum.
  • Teach and develop lesson plans for each class taught.
  • Develop supply inventory for projects.
  • Request orders for any necessary supplies within budget from Camp and Program Directors.
  • Maintain assigned classroom space for damage and cleanliness.
  • Organize, conceptualize, and create performances for the final Celebration of the Arts the last Thursday evening of each session.
  • Attend mandatory pre-camp meetings and orientation.

Qualifications:

Educational and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or partial degree in Music/Music Education or equivalent experience.
  • Teaching/classroom management experience.
  • Enthusiasm for working with grades K-8.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage campers, junior counselors, and counselors
  • Organized.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others on the Camp Adler staff.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be available to work for the entire summer, both sessions, for the full six weeks.
  • Must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to go above and beyond.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the Adler Arts Center in Libertyville.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and move tables/chairs if necessary.
  • Must be okay to work outdoors and in hot conditions.

Job Types: Temporary, Seasonal

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week

Compensation Package:

  • Hourly pay

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
