Camp Accompanist – Broadway Bound Musical Theater (Seasonal)

Summary: The Old Town School of Folk Music is seeking a talented and collaborative Accompanist for our Broadway Bound Musical Theater Camp, working with children ages 6-11. This is a seasonal, part-time summer camp position ideal for musicians who are passionate about musical theater, youth performance, and supporting young performers in their artistic development.

Location: Lincoln Square, Chicago, IL
Schedule: Varies based on camp schedule

Responsibilities:

  • Accompany rehearsals and performances for the Broadway Bound Musical Theater Camp.
  • Collaborate with the lead instructor to teach and develop the musical portion of the camp.
  • Assist young performers in learning melodies, harmonies, and timing for a variety of musical theater songs.
  • Adapt playing style to different skill levels and help motivate and engage young students.
  • Be available to accompany the final Camp Showcase on the last Thursday evening of each camp.
  • Work closely with staff and fellow instructors to create a fun and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Experience accompanying musical theater productions, choirs, or vocal ensembles (preferred).
  • Experience working with children in a group setting.
  • Ability to collaborate with instructors, performers, and young learners to create a dynamic and engaging musical experience.
  • Passion for children’s music education and musical theater.
  • Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible schedule with availability for afternoon/evening rehearsals and final showcase performances.

Accompanist Hourly Pay Rate: $22/Hour
