Cafe and Space Rental Manager (Part-Time)

Occupational Summary: Manages budget and operations of the Old Town School Cafés, Develops and Manages Space Rentals, acts as event staff and bartender.

Qualifications: Two years of restaurant or food service management experience required, including beer and wine service. Health and safety certification required. B.A.S.S.E.T. (Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education Training) certification required. Must be at least 21 years old. Basic accounting skills required. 2 years experience with event management and business development. Strong detail orientation and organizational skills required. Ability to work on multiple projects required. Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Excellent customer service skills required. Bi-lingual Spanish ability preferred. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Physical Requirements: This work requires the following physical activities: reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, standing, walking, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors in a cafe and venue environment.

Duties:

Event Management

Develop and manage space rentals for the Old Town School of Folk Music, including promotion of available opportunitiesBuild comprehensive event plans including floorplans, space needs, schedules, etc.Ensure detailed execution of meetings and events, including ensuring set up of events and anticipating potential conflictsRespond to clients’ events needs promptly and act as a liaison between OTSFM and clientAssists with coordination and execution of major OTSFM events, including Square Roots and Fretboard Summit

Cafe Management

Hires, schedules and supervises café staff.Plans and implements bar menu items and presentation.Maintains inventory and orders supplies.Budgets, manages, and records financial transactions.

General

Maintains health and safety requirements for café, events, and staff.Provides input regarding policy, planning, and improvements.Prepares drinks and acts as staff for eventsTroubleshoots problems as they ariseCommunicates effectively with other departmentsCoordinates seasonal decorations and art installations for the schoolOther duties as assigned
