Bisque Kiln Studio Technician

The Ceramics Department at Lillstreet Art Center is currently hiring for a contract Bisque Kiln Studio Technician to complete one gas bisque firing per week in addition to a selection of general studio maintenance tasks. This position is overseen by the Director of Studio Operations. The contract for the Bisque Kiln Studio Technician lasts until March 16th with the option to renew based upon availability and performance. A detailed outline is listed below:

Hours:

Fridays, 12-8PM (8 hours per week)

Responsibilities:

- Responsible for firing 1 gas kiln weekly (bisque)

- Keep accurate and detailed records of firings

- Make cone packs

- Maintain and organize kiln room

- Reorganize bisqueware and glazeware to consolidate carts

- Participate in BIG CLEAN during breaks

- Assist Director of Studio Operations with tasks as assigned

Desired Qualifications:
- Meticulous attention to detail.

- Strong organization and prioritization skills.

- Customer service experience in a variety of settings.

- A demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively, and under supervision.

- Strong communication skills

- The ability to work during the requested times

- The ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.

- A background in ceramics is preferred.

- Experience firing gas kilns is preferred.

Compensation:

$18 per hour (contract)
