Assistant to the Artistic Director
This posting is for an independent contractor position, with the possibility of converting to an employee after eight months. The AAD will aid the Artistic Director in overseeing a company of pre-professional high school aged dancers. These dancers are trained in some, or all, of the following styles: ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip-hop. The AAD collaborates with the director in all things related to creating and presenting evening length dance performances.
We are looking for an individual who:
- Is a choreographer, creator, and collaborator
- Has an undergraduate degree in dance or other performing arts or equivalent professional experience
- Has the desire and ability to work with, teach, and mentor talented high school dancers
- Can work with the Artistic Director and Company Manager to develop a rehearsal/production schedule
- Is a reliable communicator
- Has the ability to lead group warm-ups, technique classes, and rehearsals
- Is available weekend afternoons for regular rehearsals
- Can be available throughout production weeks, one in the fall and one in the spring, for tech and dress rehearsals
