Voices Embodied: VI - Open Call 2025

Voices Embodied is excited to announce an open call for the 6th iteration of the Voices Embodied Project, taking place at The Design Museum of Chicago from June 2026 to January 2027.

Voices Embodied shows consider disability in relation to identities and celebrate visibility, collaboration, and community engagement. This is an ongoing project created and curated by Alex Stark, who is a disabled queer Artist and Curator. View past Voices Embodied shows here.

In Outlaw Culture: Resisting Representations, Bell Hooks states, “The future of art is to do more than what it is; it is to imagine what is possible.” For this exhibition, artists are asked to push the boundaries of what a typical museum show might look like. They are encouraged to reimagine what is possible through how design relates to accessibility and the ways in which art and design can be access points to culture and discourse.

Artists are invited to submit existing artwork, and/or a site-specific installation proposal to reimagine and reinvent the spaces of six pre-determined locations in the Design Museum. Apply until November 21st!

We look forward to receiving your applications!
