The Studios of Key West: Call for 2025/26 Season Proposals

The Studios of Key West, the premier multidisciplinary arts organization at the Southernmost Point of the continental U.S., invites artists, performers, and educators to submit proposals for exhibitions, performances, and workshops as part of our 2025/26 season. Our mission is to support artists, inspire creativity, and build community.

We’re seeking bold, original ideas that reflect the unique spirit of Key West and resonate with our diverse island community. Whether you're an emerging artist or an established creative voice, we welcome proposals across a wide range of disciplines.

What We’re Looking For:
- Exhibitions: We present approximately 30 exhibitions annually across three floors of professional gallery space in our landmark art deco building.
- Performances: The 200-seat Helmerich Theater and our 75-seat Hugh’s View rooftop terrace host concerts, theater, film, readings and more.
- Workshops: Over 70 classes are offered each year in media including painting, writing, photography, printmaking, fiber arts, performance and more.

Our season runs from August 2025 through July 2026, with peak programming during the high season of January through April 2026. We encourage early submissions for proposals taking place in late summer and fall.

Selection Process:
All proposals are reviewed by committees made up of working artists and professionals in the applicant’s field, as well as Studios staff and board members. Proposals are evaluated based on quality, feasibility, originality, and how well they align with The Studios’ Purpose, Strategies and Values.

We especially welcome work that:
- Pushes creative boundaries
- Engages our local community in meaningful ways
- Explores themes of identity, place, environment, or resilience
- Might not otherwise find a venue in Key West

Additional Notes:
- Limited on-site housing is available for select exhibition and performance artists.
- Instructor housing for workshops is generally not provided, though special considerations may be made.
