Haunted Past, Our Future: An Immersive, Asian American Pacific Islander Reimagining of Folktales and Scary Stories
APIDA Arts presents a spooky, IMMERSIVE, art event with the theme of reinventing Halloween through the Asian, Pacific Island, Desi/South Asian American creative lens. The concept is to take a ghost story, spooky tale, or dark theme from the APIDA culture you identify with and reinterpret it through your artistic vision.
Examples may include a poem reinterpreting a ghost story you heard from your APIDA grandparents. Becoming a living statue of Korean Queen Min who was burned alive by Japanese Imperialists. Playing a cover of the song, Monster Mash, in a different language.
With this immersive experience, we want your art to be AMONG people.
We seek work that you are deeply connected to, as you re-imagine your spooky cultural influences.
- Sunday, October 20, 2024, 5-8PM
- All mediums will be considered: written art may be printed for display or interaction with audience. Fine art will be displayed. Performing arts will be immersive
- There is pay
- The location is Chinatown
- Indoor event without a stage - an immersive experience
- PA system available
- We can only consider complete applications
