April 5th, 2019 - 5pm: Both artists will present a Visual Voices Lecture on campus at Bradley University’s Horowitz Auditorium, Caterpillar Global Communications Center. 6pm: Complementary Dinner for workshop attendees with the workshop artists in Heuser Art Gallery, Heuser Art Center
April 6th, 2019 - 9am-4pm: Your choice of one full day workshop: Compose Yourself (Letterpress) by Jessica Spring, or Print Blitz(Screenprint) by John Hitchcock, Lunch provided. 5pm-7:30pm: After party & pizza (provided) at Rhodells

Compose Yourself: Daredevil Letterpress Instructed by Jessica Spring • www.springtidepress.com
Students will focus on typesetting and letterpress printing techniques that move beyond straight lines and right angles to set type that curves, angles and bounces. We’ll explore both traditional methods of employing circular and angle quads, adapting tools from art supply and hardware stores for manipulating type, and experimentation with Daredevil Furniture, a set of lasercut furniture designed for type composition at Springtide Press. An exchange of daredevil prints will complete this workshop appropriate for printers ready to expand their approach to typographic composition and image-making.
Print Blitz! Screenprint! And Unique Prints! Instructed by John Hitchcock • www.hybridpress.net
This workshop will focus on photo-based screenprinting processes and mixed media unique multiples. Students will become fluent in the technical aspects of screenprinting and explore various printing substrates. Students will be directed to explore their personal artistic vision by developing imagery that fully utilizes screenprinting as a visually expressive medium. Participants will produce a small varied edition of unique prints during the workshop. TECHNIQUES WE WILL COVER: Reduction/additive printing, color overlays, paper stencils, mixing inks, print registration, Direct Photo Emulsion (Handcut Stencil Film Rubylith and photobased Stencils). Alternative methods of printmaking/Monoprints use of hand dyeing, drawing back into, manipulation of the surface, and water soluble markers.
