Open Call for Black Artists for a Black History Month Showcase
In celebration of Black History Month, Parlour and Ramp is putting on our second annual showcase of the talented Black Artists of the Chicagoland area! Artists do not need to reside within city limits, but must be able to drop off their artwork in person to the gallery space, located at 2130 W 21st St, Chicago IL in the Lower West Side of Pilsen Neighborhood.
Deadline for all submissions is January 25th, 2025 at midnight. Notification of acceptance will be emailed by Tuesday January 28th, with artwork drop off being no later than February 3rd.
Show opens on Friday, February 7th and runs until Friday, February 28th. There will be an opening and a closing reception, both from 6pm-9pm.
Meet the Juror: Rachel Dukes
Rachel Dukes is a writer and curator who has called Chicago home for nearly ten years. Originally from Grand Prairie, Texas, she earned an undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Arkansas, and a master’s in Museum and Exhibition Studies from the University of Illinois Chicago. Rachel has supported numerous curatorial projects in arts-focused spaces across Chicago including the South Side Community Art Center, the Hyde Park Art Center, and UIC’s Gallery 400. Her writing has been featured in the Chicago Reader and Sixty Inches From Center. A passionate advocate for community-based arts programming, Rachel also serves on the board of Chicago Tap Theatre. In her creative practice, Rachel explores the terrain for wonder that is uncovered through art and she is committed to sharing this exploration with her community.
**Each Artist may submit up to two works for consideration. Any and all kind of artwork will be considered. Images must be under 10MB.
