Open Call for ArtWear Collective Spring 2019 Showcase: FASHION/GARMENT-BASED DESIGNERS AND ARTISTS

p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px 'Helvetica Neue'} The ArtWear Collective aims to showcase people of color/LGBTQ+ artists and designers that focus on interdisciplinary practices. We aim to feature specifically artists that blur the lines between fashion and art; i.e. wearable art, non-wearable garments, garment-based performance, and other forms of avant-garde garment-making. The Collective is curating and hosting its debut show at The Adler Planetarium in March of 2019. The show is to be a non-traditional fashion show and feature work that is focused around garment-based art/designs. THE DEADLINE FOR DESIGNER APPLICATIONS IS FEBRUARY 15, 2019. Artists chosen to be in the show/work with the collective will be considered for numerous features on social media, on the website, and at event fundraisers.The title and theme of the Spring show will be Celestial Bodies and aims to create an authentic relationship between artist and audience; one that challenges the term other and replaces it with new forms of curiosity, sharing, and understanding. The show serves as a catalyst for discourse among artists and audience members, resulting in a symbiotic relationship between the two. The work should blur the line between art and fashion and disrupt the binary. Think outside the box and envision something the traditional art and fashion world cannot. It must be natural to your practice yet unnatural to the everyday community. ATTENTION: The Adler Planetarium has given us the opportunity to allow designers to photo-document their work at the venue in the upcoming months BEFORE THE SHOW. A photographer and planetarium tickets will be provided to the chosen designers and models for individual shoots.
