Inventory of Lost Books Installation

Did you know that nearly 4,000 books have been banned in school districts in the United States since 2024? And that those in power ban books to suppress marginalized voices that reflect diverse experiences. Would you like to help raise awareness about banned books and motivate people to take action?

NON:op Arts and Humanities is seeking a large and diverse group of people to raise awareness about book banning by reading/recording the titles of banned books.

You are invited to contribute to the recorded sound by adding your voice to the sound component of the Inventory of Lost Books installation.

The Lost Books installation is conceived by sound artist, Christophe Preissing, and paper artist, Amanda Love, and will be installed in August (Chicago) and Cleveland (September).

Recordings will be made between now and May 1st.
