Foaming at the Mouth Exhibition
Exhibition Date: May 2025
Location: Color Club Chicago
Submission Fee: $10 per entry
Curatorial Statement
Foaming at the Mouth is a group exhibition exploring the slow breakdown of things—material and abstract—through leaks, viscosity, and gradual disintegration. The exhibition emphasizes the subtle ways in which boundaries between self and environment erode, creating slippages of control, information, and material. Framing the body as a permeable vessel, the works highlight the constant challenge to containment. Here, the fracturing of language, systems, and the body itself emerges not with an explosive rupture, but with a slow, inevitable leak.
The exhibition investigates how information, bodies, and objects become sticky—difficult to separate, slowly entangled. Transformation occurs beneath the surface, mirroring the way our lives are shaped by forces we can neither see nor control. Foaming at the Mouth will showcase works by artists working in experimental and interdisciplinary approaches, including emerging and mid-career artists.
This open call invites submissions of finished works that engage with these themes.
