Dog Sees God Auditions

ABOUT THE PLAY:

An "unauthorized continuation," this play reimagines characters from the popular comic strip Peanuts as degenerate teenagers.

When CB’s dog dies from rabies, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace. But a chance meeting with an artistic kid, the target of this group’s bullying, offers CB a peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits.

Drug use, child sexual abuse, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion, sexual relations, and identity are among the issues covered in this haunting and hopeful homage to the works of Charles M. Schulz.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:

This is a live production in front of an audience. Rehearsals will start on Saturday, February 15, 2025 and be held on campus with most rehearsals occurring in Sherman Hall.

CASTING:

Casting 8 animated, high energy, comic minded performers for a wild return to the classic world of Charlie Brown. All characters in the show are assumed to be high-school age in appearance.

Auditions are open to students and non-students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Previous theatre experience is not necessary.

Content Warning: Even though it is a comedy, Dog Sees God engages mature topics and explicit language surrounding suicide, bullying, eating disorders, loss, sexuality, substance abuse, and homophobia.

*This is a non-paying production.

PREPARATION:

Auditioners are asked to prepare a 1-2 minute memorized, comic monologue from a published text.

Auditions will be held in-person at Governors State University on Monday, February 10 and Tuesday, February 11, 2025
