COT 25/26 Season Chorus Auditions

Chicago Opera Theater announces auditions for 2025/26 Tenor, Baritone, Bass-Baritone, and Bass Comprimario and Chorus Casting

The number of audition slots is limited and auditions will be granted based on submitted materials. If granted an audition, singers can expect to be assigned a specific time slot by September 3, 2025. The deadline to submit materials for consideration is 11:59pm central time on August 24, 2025. Any materials submitted after this deadline will be considered only if slots are available.

We are currently auditioning for tenor, baritone, bass-baritone, and bass comprimario and chorus roles for the following production periods:
Salieri’s Falstaff: October 27-December 7, 2025 (sung in Italian)
Weill’s Der Silbersee: January 26-March 8, 2026 (sung in German)

We will only be hearing Chicago-local tenors, baritones, bass-baritones and basses at this time. Please confirm that your permanent residency is Chicago or the greater Chicagoland area and which production(s) you are available for when submitting your materials.

CHICAGO: Auditions will take place on September 10, 2025, between 2pm-5pm in Room 404, Fine Arts Building, 410 South Michigan Avenue, 4th Floor.
Vocal auditions will take place between 2pm-4:15pm. Select singers will be called back for movement auditions the same day, from 4:30pm – 5pm. When submitting materials, please specify whether you have preference of a vocal audition time period.

Audition Requirements: Bring at least 2 contrasting arias, preferably in Italian and/or German.

For movement callbacks, please wear comfortable clothing in which you can move freely, with appropriate shoes. Due to limited facilities for wardrobe changing, auditionees should feel free to wear movement callback attire to vocal audition.
