Call for Visual Artists

 Awakenings is home to a multi-media art gallery featuring the artistic expressions of rape and sexual abuse survivors. By showcasing stories of survival, we are helping survivors and allies find peace and healing while simultaneously challenging the cultural taboos that prevent an honest discussion of sexual violenc. We exhibit two to three group shows a year with short pop up exhibits intandem with other events at Awakenings.  We do not charge artists to exhibit, however it is the artist's responsibility to get artwork delivered to the gallery and returned at the end of the show.  We are looking for visual artists of any medium for example drawing, photography, paint, sculpture, multimedia. CriteriaArtwork must be on the topic of sexual violence and healing. Once again, this must be on the topic of sexual violence and healing.Artists who identify as survivors of sexual violence are strongly encouraged to submit work.Artists who do not identify as survivors of sexual violence may submit work. GuidelinesWe accept any medium of visual work. If you are a writer/author, please see our Literary Magazine, Awakened Voices, that has submissions open twice a year and as of late Fall 2018 are also opening submissions for a blog.
