Call for Vessels - Union Street Gallery
Deadline to Submit: January 2nd, 2025.
They hold, cradle, enfold, protect, pour out, seal in.
This Union Street Gallery exhibition is about “the vessel”. This can reference the importance of a sacred place that holds that precious “thing". A functional work that speaks to the ebb and flow, the in and out movement of substance and of life. A work that can be utilitarian or hold a special place of honor. For eons, the vessel is an essential part of life and art. What is your contemporary approach to creating this historical, important, iconic item?
Union Street Gallery is seeking original works in a variety of media, that embody the concept of containment, holding, protection, preservation, and more. The emphasis for this call is on three-dimensional works in diverse media, including, floor, pedestal, wall, and alternative hanging pieces. Some mediums to consider are ceramics, glass, and fiber arts but we encourage artists to think beyond these into metals, found objects, installations, and more!
Three-dimensional work is preferred for this show but theme-appropriate two-dimensional work will also be considered.
