Call for Artist - Glass Case Gallery at The Wasteshed
Glass Case Gallery is a mini gallery space located at The WasteShed’s registers in our glass display cases. Our Glass Case Gallery highlights local artists working with upcycled materials and inspires our visitors to imagine new ways of using unconventional materials and materials on-hand. Glass Case Gallery Artists’ work serve to as points of entry into larger discussions about the things we own, and the way we live.
We accept ongoing submissions for our Glass Case Gallery in both Chicago and Evanston.
The details:
- The Glass Case Gallery will present an artist’s work for a three month period.
- Work must be made of at least 50% upcycled material, and must be able to fit into our display case (Chicago’s case requires a 15”x15” clearance, Evanston’s case can accommodate pieces that are 20”x17” or 20”x12.5”)
- Artists selected to be featured for the Glass Case Gallery receive 75% of all work sold, and the option of a closing or opening reception in our workspace.
- Artists are also offered the opportunity to lead a workshop at the associated WasteShed location.
- We are specifically looking for submissions that uplift the idea of creative reuse and will inspire others to reuse materials they have in new ways. Things that typically sell well in our galleries are crafted home goods (think lamps, journals, etc!), accessories, and decor!
