The Patty McMullen-Mikles Art Gallery invites artists to submit work to A Space for Freedom, featuring two juried calls and one community postcard project exploring how freedom is seen, shaped, and imagined.
JURIED CALL #1: Portraits of Freedom
Portraits that explore the people, identities, histories, or imagined figures that embody freedom.
Eligible Media: Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media
Deadline: February 1, 2026
Entry Fee: $10 per piece (funds awards)

Requirements: Work must be framed, wired, and ready to hangJURIED CALL #2: Freedom in Three Dimensions
Artists are invited to explore how freedom takes shape in space.
Consider: How does freedom move? Expand? Transform? What stories can be built, carved, molded, or assembled?
Eligible Media: All 3D forms — ceramics, metal, fiber, wood, mixed media

Community Call: Freedom Postcard Project
What does freedom mean to you? We welcome creative responses in any medium that fits within the format of a postcard. All Postcards will be exhibited together.
Eligible Media: Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, etc.
Deadline: February 1, 2026
Entry Fee: Free
Submission: Mail and Deliver to Patty McMullen-Mikles Art Gallery
Requirements: 4"x6" or 5"x7" Postcard
Include your name and contact info on the back and note whether to return or archive. All postcards to be returned must include postage.
