Bio

Delinda Collier is a scholar, professor, and Dean of Graduate Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her research explores the intersections of technology, media, and art in Africa, as evidenced in her books "Media Primitivism: Technological Art in Africa" (Duke University Press, 2020) and "Repainting the Walls of Lunda: Information Colonialism and Angolan Art" (University of Minnesota Press, 2016). Collier's work has appeared in ARTMargins, Critical Interventions, and Nka, among other publications. She has received numerous awards, including the Arnold J. Rubin Outstanding Publication Award (2024) and fellowships from the Center for Advanced Studies in the Visual Arts and the Clark Art Institute. Through her teaching and scholarship, Collier examines postcolonial theory, media archaeology, and global contemporary art, with particular attention to the technological histories of artistic practice in Africa and its diasporas.
