The Guthman’s interest in conceptual photography—for example, works by Bani Abidi, Anne Collier, Moyra Davey, Willie Doherty, Stan Douglas, Nan Goldin, Douglas Gordon, Rodney Graham, Alfredo Jaar, Annette Kelm, Teresa Margolles, Gabriel Orozco, Elle Perez, Xaviera Simmons, Anri Sala, Lauri Simmons, Lorna Simpson, Thomas Struth and Mickalene Thomas defines, but does not limit, their collection. A variety of formats are employed by such international practitioners as Walid Beshty, Andrea Bowers, Jim Dine, Liam Gillick, Arturo Herrera, Rashid Johnson, Guillermo Kuitca, Glenn Ligon, Sarah Lucas, Juan Muňoz, Albert Oehlen, Jorge Pardo, Jaume Plensa, Yinka Shonibare, Shinique Smith, Elias Sime, and Christopher Wool. Chicago artists included are Dawoud Bey, Bethany Collins, Brendan Fernandez, Julia Fish, Theaster Gates, William Pope.L, Judy Ledgerwood, Iňigo Manglano-Ovalle, Kerry James Marshall, Richard Rezac, David Schutter, Tony Tasset and Amanda Williams.
