Nicholas Sagan

Nicholas Sagan (b. 1984) is a Chicago-based artist whose interdisciplinary practice spans painting, new media, video, installation, and sound art. His work draws inspiration from space, science fiction, music, and philosophical inquiry, exploring the unknown and unseen through themes of observation, materialization, and the vastness of the cosmos. Sagan engages both the theoretical and sensory dimensions of space, incorporating environmental forms at multiple scales to create immersive experiences. Existing as a fusion of visual and auditory elements, his work emphasizes the role of sound in shaping immersive environments. Through these processes, Sagan invites audiences to reconsider their relationship with space and the act of observing, blending the scientific and the poetic. Resisting categorization, his practice pushes the boundaries of traditional media, inviting viewers into a sensory dialogue with the vast, often intangible forces that shape our understanding of the universe.
